About Me

My name is Damien Ovalle, and my last name is Pronounced like a ye and not ley. A recent graduate of Brooklyn College’s Journalism and Media Studies program who has approached journalism through many different facets, from Audio to print to video, etc. Besides being the Sports Director for WBCR Radio Station, I was on the Game Crew for Brooklyn College Athletics where I got to see in real time how stressful live entertainment sports are. As well as seeing how much of an impact that the broadcasts had on the Brooklyn college community. Parents, family, and friends would thank the crew and I for the work we’ve done which gave us all the satisfaction we needed. I contributed to the Brooklyn Vanguard and Brooklyn News Service closing off my trifecta of journalistic interests. Having been a part of multiple sectors of journalism/media, I’ve moved to freelance work where I have been filming myself on social media powerlifting and building a presence there on platforms such as Instagram and video work for others around me. Sooner rather than later I hope to get a foothold in the multimedia sports industry and have a position on a live broadcast.
